Whats up guise?

So I know I haven't posted much, but I've been sketching quite a bit. I'm going to do a sketchdump within the next few days or so. Also, I haven't done ANYTHING digital due to breaking my tablet pen a few weeks before school let out. I was finally able to get enough work to afford a new one and it should be here Monday. Then I have so much stuff I need to work on.
I just had to factory reset my computer, that kinda sucked. It's been having issues for a few months now and after trying to get it back to its last restore point (unsuccessfully) I gave up and did a reset, now its updates, updates,updates.... oh and re-downloading all my art programs again *sigh*

So this past week and weekend.....

...was amazing!!!!
I'm not gonna be super sappy or anything so I'm going to start off with last Friday... I went on a Chicago trip through the clubs at my school and we visited Colombia College, another school which was based on the fine arts (which is something I don't really do so I don't remember the name really) and we visited Four Star Sudios. It was Awesome, but the studio totally made the trip! I got a lot of really good advice and we all learned a lot about how to get into the business!
Sunday was awesome too I went to Wizard World here in the STL and cosplayed as Kaylee Frye. This kid thought I was actually her! (I didn't think my cosplay was that great but hey whatever lol) And I met Alan Tudyk who swore he knew me from another con so he signed our picture with "Good to see an old friend again." My mom thought I was gonna pass out I was so excited lol
Anyway thats just the cliff notes version, but It was amazing!

'What brings this up,' you may be asking yourself.
This is something that has bothered me for a while, starting with one of my DA friends leaving this very site because of some troll constantly telling her that she was so bad she needed to go kill herself. Two years later and she has still not picked up her pencil to draw with which is a shame because no, she wasn't good, but she was just starting and she had the willingness to listen to critiques and learn from them which is more than I can say for most people I know, even on this site.
I've been trolled on a few times myself, not serious trolling of any sort, but trolling none-the-less.
But in truth what brought this up was an article that I read tonight (if you want to read it or look over it, although I really don't want to give this person anymore attention, you can find the article here: gomakemeasandwich.wordpress.co… ).
This is simply a blogger, who thinks because some art director hired her to draw a few things and she graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts that she can critique a person who does this for a living and tell them that they don't know anatomy when she clearly doesn't understand the pose used, the pose concept, the anatomy of the pose, or just fantasy illustration anatomy.
Now I'm not perfect at anatomy myself, you can look at my work and see that (although I'm sure you'll take my word on it). I also don't claim to be the greatest artist ever. I'm not, nor will I ever be. Art is where I go to express my ideas, its my freedom. My characters and their stories are my ideals; what I want to be, what I will never be, what I can be, who I am and the world around me in all its craziness in what the world was, is, could be and will be.
Now I'm going against the troll field guide (found here: fav.me/d5vsjrs) by posting this, but quite frankly, I've got so few people that actually watch me that I don't care, but if a troll reads this and wants to comment, feel free, but keep in mind, <da:thumb id="156854589"/>.
If you are someone who is being trolled, or you know someone who is being trolled, regardless of the site that you are on, go report the troll. Sure, they'll probably get a new username if they are banned and maybe they'll continue trolling on your/your friend's site with the new username, but just repeat the process. Eventually they'll go away.
And please, whatever you do ignore what the troll has to say.

School, Art and Cosplay

So today was my first day back to classes this semester, and its weird. I mean technically I haven't even finished the day yet, because its only 2:50 and my next class isn't until 5. I have a five hour break between classes on Mondays and Wednesdays; my Tuesday/Thursday class is in the middle of the day and I have a seven hour fantasy illustration class that is on Saturdays, plus an online psych class. This shall be interesting....
So in other news I'm going to be doing a Galadriel cosplay at Wizard World STL this year and I'm pretty excited for that cos there are going to be quite a few people I want to see.

Art has been and will continue to be slow... I might post some of the stuff from my classes, but that won't be for a while. Most of my teachers don't "believe" in digital so I won't get much done on SAI or Photoshop.
Guess that's all; I always feel like I'm going to have this epic journal... Then these spill out. xD
PS Happy New Year, all!
PSS I saw the Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug ......... If the ending is like the book I'm going to deny it and AU my OTP... With that said, I don't know how to feel about the fact that it kinda is like "Oh the book? Yeah I'm just gonna make up people and add others from the other series so it appears more connected, but really I'm just making more money by making this into three movies instead of the two it probably should have been."
